"Nobody cares about open source."

Bitcoiners care about #Bitcoin and know there is a long-held tradition of successful for-profit companies maintaining the open source ethos.

Product moats have *always* come from reputation, not government. Build things people love, and they'll be customers for life. Decieve, and they will question their loyalty.

Open source is about being an honest #Bitcoin company.

What are some examples you’d give to closed source shills?

One that I use often is MongoDB

MongoDB is a closed for commercial use, source-available database (https://github.com/mongodb/mongo/blob/master/LICENSE-Community.txt).

Coldcard and Umbrel are the same.

MongoDB, however, is not a #Bitcoin company.

I like all of these companies but Blockstream is the only one I’d consider as being successful so far

And even they had kept Liquid close source until very recently in its lifetime

I understand that but they started as open source and only did that after Amazon started copying them wholesale. Not excusing the change just pointing out that you can have a ton of success with open source.
