Btw if CBDCs do become a thing, and it looks like they will. What would happen to people if they "ban" exchanges? I'm a noob and I don't have any crypto so apologies for the dumbass question.

But can't they just consolidate power again by banning exchanges and establishing their own... all under the guise of "regulated and secure"?

They can pass whatever laws they want but even China can't enforce their Bitcoin ban.

I recently purchased Bitcoin multiple times by paying with Amazon gift vouchers using Robosats and Peach, both P2P Bitcoin exchanges.

Even with CBDCs they can't stop me sending people Amazon vouchers.

Robosats in particular is anonymous and accessible only through Tor.
