Is there a good reason not to buy a $60 mini PC and install Start9 OS on it?

This sounds really fun.

yeah, just looking around on ebay and there are tons of old small dell PCs

You could just use an old laptop. I installed Start9 on an old thinkpad t430

I don't have any old laptops 😒

Look online, some might even be cheaper than the mini pc and just as good

Can’t think of one as long as it has adequate SSD space.

1TB ssd is only $40 so it not too expensive

Why you don't use a raspi for this? ☺️

PI 4s are really pricey now and they only have a quad-cord 1.2Ghz with 4GB. but some of these mini PCs on ebay have quad cores 3.2Ghz with 8GB. seems like twice as much for half the price

Wow! I only use a minipc as a router (but this thing is a bit pricy ~400€)

mini pc is the way. i use mostly nuc's over here. and also check for energy efficiency and noise.

depends on the purpose test/prod - if looking for portable compactself owned hw - bulky bigger used one can far cheaper but low perf
