What is #cyberspace?
❌ it is NOT a game
❌ it is NOT a simulation of reality
❌ it is NOT a catch-all term for "the internet" or digital worlds in general
✅ it IS a specific, finite digital space
✅ it is ONLY accessible via a thermodynamic protocol
✅ it IS a new unique addition to reality that was not previously accessible before this protocol existed
✅ NOTHING can happen in cyberspace unless PROOF OF WORK happens in reality
Just as the bitcoin protocol created a new scarce digital resource hidden in time, cyberspace creates a new scarce digital space accessible and formable by energy expenditure.
Digital things are like ideas — they are not real unless you put work into them.
Satoshis are real because they are created through proof-of-work. They become more desirable and more real as more proof-of-work is applied to their creation (hashpower increase across the network)
Similarly, digital objects in cyberspace are real because they cannot exist without the expenditure of proof-of-work.
