We used to be a proper country…

Never forget what they took from us.

I definitely played in a playground just like the one in that top photo but I cannot for the life of me remember where it was.

Who?

Fort Fun

I’ll take it one further. My elementary school had all these woods and we would just run in them and then come back when the teacher yelled that recess was over 😂

I’ll take it one further. I was homeschooled and would just run in the woods around my house and my teacher (mom) would never yell at me to come inside because I’d already finished all my “schoolwork” the hour after I woke up.

Those (top pic) are everywhere in Pittsburgh. Or, at least they were a few years ago. So fun.

(The kids like them, too.)

My town's park has a sweet wooden/trex playground. It was built with donated materials and volunteer labor.

Parks like the one in the first picture are whole worlds, filled with imagination and adventure. Of all the ones I've known of, one or two are still standing.

This might be TMI but I remember when I was around ten, all those years ago — a core memory of mine is the day a giant wooden playground shaped like a ship burned down to ashes. It was a full boat, with places to climb, hide and explore. It even had tall wooden masts, like a real sailing ship, that you could climb all the way to the top of. We drove past it, and I just cried in silence. It felt silly to cry over a park, but it was as if all the stories built into that place, all the memories, had been taken away from me.

They replaced it with a park exactly like the one in the second picture — all plastic and metal. That's still there today, 20 years later. Gets so hot in the summer it’s even impossible for kids to use during the day 🔥😂

I'm so glad to read on the replies that in many places there are still great parks to play and build stories in! 😍

We are the ghosts of a world that has already ended

Both are awesome

Had those types of Playgrounds when I was growing up in Australia too. They want our reward system desperate so they can bribe the population easily.

They who?
