Looking good. I like the use of biochar as a growing medium, this is new to me. Did you charge the biochar before using it?
Discussion
This is just to get the mulberry to root in the pot. It will charge in this as well, basically fills with 2” of water every 15 minutes during the day and drains.
Very cool. I will have to try rooting sticks in biochar. My first experiment this year used perlite
And I’ve dumped a lot in the beds with no charging, 25% mix, working good :)
I have been giving biochar a quick overnight charge when adding to the garden or potting soil. I use liquid kelp or pee. The pee char just goes in the garden, not potting soil.
I don't like wasting my pee, so I got a 5 gallon bucket with char. Once I started getting smell I added water and more char on top. This bucket was just placed in the shed until I was ready to use it.
Most of the char i have made gets mixed in with compost or chicken bedding for charging
