It still amazes me how gullible and epistemically lazy people are with respect to common anti-bitcoin tropes. I've encountered the argument that 'bitcoin is bad for the environment because it uses too much energy' from people who's profession centres around understanding and advising institutions about the latest energy tech innovation.

And the cognitive inertia as well. People who are locked into the zero-sum mentality that energy consumption is a universal evil that we have to minimize at all costs fail to recognize the obvious point that this is irrelevant if the energy expenditure is creating value for social and economic development that far outweighs the cost. Let alone considering the energy dynamics of the BTC network in incentivizing use of stranded and renewable energy sources while enabling hyper-efficient curtailment. BTC is arguably the most powerful force for catalysing the transition away from fossil energy and to more sustainable economics.

More broadly, people locked in the fiat mindset unfortunately fail to recognize the creative energy that bitcoin facilitates. For the first time in many of our lifetimes, we can imagine completely new systems from the ground up, network states, self-sustaining cities on the ocean powered by OTEC, novel avenues for human prosperity and freedom.
