It's a massive gamble anyway, even with a degree in something decent if you graduate into a recession like a lot of young people are probably about to you are also kind of screwed.
The company will always take the younger graduate so by the time things get better you are unlikely to get the experience you need to make your degree useful.
And if there is “sustained economic headwinds” all those new graduates will be for the chop. Fresh graduate status lost dropped into a market of over supply, under demand, unwilling to take on jobs under their status. Grim.
