Do most agree that Proton mail is the best email for privacy/security? Or is there something better?

Depends on for what use case. If you just need it temporarily, its probable better to look into disposable temporary emails
They're all completely bad
PGP + selfhosting
Its solid off the shelf. Like using signal vs SMS or imessage.
Also, super easy to set family up on, so all emails to each other are default PGP. I uncle Jim model most this stuff for the fam and its a net win. The grandparents aren't going to self host or manage keys.
If you need better privacy there are certainly options.
