Believe in legacy media what you want. But even if this piece is some sort of propaganda, it does not change what police is as an organisation in EU, and it is exactly as described in this article. In Lithuania for sure, and in other places of EU - I have not noticed any differences anywhere.

I would be surprised if this uselessness of police is politically motivated. It is just the level of its incompetence as an organisation. I am sure they would be just as useless to any other citizen in this exact same situation.

Remember, it is not their job to help you. You do not pay them, democracy does. Or in other words, you do pay them, but you will pay them regardless of how good their job is done (or if at all). There is no personal accountability. So they only protect you as a good slave. To make sure that another slave master does not take you over, and that you are capable to produce the goodies for them. But not to make you happy. And not even to keep you alive, if your life is not worth the effort measured in the goodies you will produce specifically for them. If your life is indeed worth protecting for them, they will make sure that you do not get into such a situation in the first place.

I know individuals may be different, but the organisation is also a beast, and this is exactly how it functions.
