Are there any areas in Porto, Portugal where one might want to avoid staying in when travelling with small kids?

As someone who was there last year, I wouldn’t say so as long as you stay in the city centre more than the suburbs. Been to Portugal multiple times, and have never felt unsafe. Even in the night

As other people have mentioned, staying in the city center should be fine. That’s a very walkable area, which is good with kids.
We stayed fairly close to the centre and it was great with a 6 year old. Absolutely loved the city! He wants to move there now haha
