have seen people with progressive politics on nostr get harassed in comments as well. nostr no more welcoming to political ideas outside of the common group than other social networks.

Silos are hard for humans to avoid, we've been tribal in nature for nearly as long as we've succeeded as a species. That kind of socialization has drawbacks on the scale that we've achieved.
It’s unfortunate its quite severe in the opposite direction in meat space. These things do go in cycles though.
