I think I see what you're asking. I'm not saying that likes should be something other than a shaka. I have nothing against that emoji. 😁 I'm saying that "likes" (or reactions as the protocol defines them) in general are stupid and pointless.

Gotcha. The way I see it is it’s similar to a head nod in a conversation. Not worth replying to but worth acknowledging

It is not an equivalent gesture as the person giving the "like" is not engaged in a conversation with you.
