we have to be careful to judge God's precepts against a consistent view of God that is based on what he's revealed to us and not according to what we want him to be. There's certainly nuance there, but there's also a surprising amount of historical agreement. That's where I start.

if someone refuses to even have the conversation and wishes only to destroy my faith, a nuanced conversation is going to be difficult.
