Joseph, born into a devout family in Ottoman-occupied territory, felt a deep spiritual calling early in life. After years of monastic discipline at Partoş, known for its strict asceticism, he was chosen as Metropolitan of Timişoara. During a plague that ravaged the city, Joseph selflessly tended to the sick and dying, providing comfort, administering sacraments, and organizing relief efforts when many fled. He exhausted his own resources ministering to the needs of everyone. His unwavering faith and compassion inspired countless people during that dark time.
