you could certainly argue that Wicker Man was better but 50 years is a fair amount of time - it was due for a remake.
Midsommar has beautiful color that you simply couldn't capture 50 years ago.
Midsommar was basically a Twist on a 1973 Horror Classic "The Wicker Man"
