I'm not sure what complacency you're referring to. We are talking on a protocol where we can transact micro payments between each other with zero intermediary.
I've been in the space since 2016, my money has been safe, sound, and secure since then. If you have an issue with the software, you simply don't have to run it, or update it. Thats the power of a decentralised network.
