A hidden illegal medical lab in California was shut down after authorities discovered nearly 1,000 laboratory mice, unknown chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, and infectious agents, including SARS-CoV-2 and HIV. The lab was found after a code enforcement officer noticed an illegally attached garden hose.
The mice were kept in inhumane conditions, and many were found dead. The remaining animals were euthanized. The substances collected from the lab were sent for testing, and the biological agents have been destroyed. A criminal investigation is ongoing, and the tenant of the warehouse, Prestige Biotech, did not provide sufficient information about the lab's activities.
