Just experienced real custodian risk in a traditional IRA transfer.

I approved a legitimate transfer from my legacy brokerage. It went through. The next day, a second *unauthorized* transfer was initiated by a third-party sub-custodian I had never interacted with.

Same amount. No additional confirmation. No alert. Just another pull on my assets.

Thankfully caught it fast and got confirmation it will be reversed. But this proves what many of us already know:

๐ŸŸ  Trusting custodians = trusting systems you donโ€™t control.

๐ŸŸ  Bitcoin is the exit โ€” but legacy interfaces still carry legacy risk.

Even Bitcoin-aligned platforms that rely on fiat rails can get caught in the middle.

Lesson: verify everything. Push for confirmation layers. And minimize reliance on opaque systems.

Follow up on this event (happened 2 days ago) ....

Took the sub-custodian no time to take the 2nd unauthorized transfer ...

money has not been sent back to my legacy brokerage yet

(but hopefully tomorrow).
