I’ve not tried or seen it - can you give a summary?

YT killer
Zap.stream was created by Kieran and a few others as a platform for live streaming to nostr. You can either plug your existing stream provider into it, or pay to use zap.stream as the provider. People viewing your stream can login with their nostr identity (NIP-07). There is live chat, and you can zap the person streaming, as well as individual comments in the chat. I know at least Amethyst has also implemented support, so a stream occurring on zap.stream also appears in Amethyst, except I don't think Amethyst has the live chat feature yet.
A nostrified Twitch replacement?
YT does it for live pods with superchats too I guess, so maybe some hybrid of that with all the #nostr goodness?
Yes exactly. There’s no hosting of the content after the fact that I can tell, so it’s just live broadcasts, and you would still need a solution like YouTube for that. But it looks like you can schedule upcoming streams so people know when you have something coming up, and this is literally after only a couple of weeks of development 😂🔥
Meaning if you wanted someone to be able to re-watch the recorded version of your live stream after the fact, you would need to also stream/simulcast to a platform that allows for that, like YouTube.
That’s a day 19 gap commonly seen on #nostr 😂
Sounds like they need to build hosting services for RSS to bridge that gap and knowing #nostr they’ll do that by day 30 🤣
When the next social media crackdown comes, the next “don’t mention the vax” scenario or like my government wanting to control ‘misinformation’, this will be super useful!
I’ll try the next zap.stream I come across
Day 19 gap 🤣🤣
