Sitting in the yard earlier I suddenly became aware of a fully mature buck sauntering past me, less than 6 feet away.

"Whoah," I said, and he looked at me as though he was thinking the same thing.

Neither of us panicked and he went on his way. I was surprised at how fuzzy his antlers were. I see does and fawns everyday but the bucks are very rare.
