What good is open-source software if no one examines the code? #AskNostr

1) someone could look at it if they so choose.
2) holds the creator of the open source code accountable. I wouldn’t release something malicious if I knew people could look at it. Also holds you accountable because someone can just fork it if you do fuck up.
Mind boggling that you think people would have time to examine thousand's upon thousands of programs and their thousands upon thousands of pages of code.
Mind boggling that you don’t realize how gigantic a team it would take to do this.

Mind boggling that you think the gov or some other malicious actor wouldn’t or hasn’t.

but also how many people compile the code? can confirm releases are the same code? trust the compiler?
