The DeSantis Humiliation Tour is something to behold. The 'debate' with Newsom makes sense, I guess, in that he's an establishment Republican, and the point of those is to serve as a stepstool for whoever the Democrats decide to nominate, so cashing in his remaining heel value to pad out Newsom's resume is theoretically productive.

This, though, feels like they're blaming him for their incompetence, and just ordering him to humiliate himself for their amusement.
