yesterday i was telling a fren about nostr n he said something that’s been on our minds for a while now.. VC’s n angels stepping into nostr n creating the holy grail of nostr social clients.. he had a bunch of concerns about that and simply told him that sure it could happen n sure they could make their own silo’d relays default on the clients n they can even block your access to other relays thus showing you a side of the network they moderate for you. There will always be a market for those that want their hands held, it’ll be a different battle in this war we’re wagging where we’ll free them from those clients by infiltrating them n opening their eyes to the protocol.

Maybe leveraging on the open architecture and inter-operability will be more of a value add than closed garden relays.

Over a long enough time frame value should move to the more open network thus aligning incentives. The same way walled Fiat currencies will continue to bleed against an open monetary network I imagine that would play out on social protocols as well
