Subnostr

Sorry this is confusing!

If you connect your wallet in the extension again it generates a new Nostr address automatically. You need to import your Nostr keys you have used, as we do not store them anywhere. Wy try to prompt newly connected wallets to back up or import their Nostr (and master key).

Any ideas how we could make it better?

I just plopped my nsec in at the time. That was it. It was a bit confusing, but I got it eventually.

I've done this a few times now (reset Alby). It's not intuitive at all, but once you figure it out, it's do-able.

Basically:

a) Recover your account (you have to request a code to your email that takes FOREVER to arrive - be patient)

b) Re-estabish access to your account

c) Go into Alby wallet, go to Nostr Settings and enter your "Nostr Private Key" (as uncomfortable as that might be)

If you don't enter your own key, then Alby creates an Alby "Master Key" and links that to your wallet--when you then sign into Nostr, that key becomes a new persona, linked to your old wallet.

It's a hard nut to crack. We want to onboard users to Nostr as quickly as possible, that's why we autogenerate keys and show them a button on main balance screen to back them up (or import) and it stays there until they do it.

Maybe If we change copy of "Setup Master Key" to something else that would make it easier to spot for someone that just wants to import key?
