why not just install linux on existing hardware / laptops?

if buying new stuff, maybe look into something also supported by a secure, open firmware like coreboot and avoid bloat-/spyware distros like ubuntu of course..

This is the first time I consider upgrading privacy in firmware .

Also: I'm about to change from Windows to Linux in 2 machines. Currently my top rated flavour is Ubuntu.

Do you consider it bloat-spyware in compare to what other flavours?
