One of the bigger curves to #nostr development as a protocol is the ruthless defense of Bitcoin.
It goes without saying that I’m personally an avid supporter of what Bitcoin provides and empowers. And I get why people feel strongly about it. And I get why there’s the defense against cryptocurrencies claiming to compete/do things better than it.
However, for the average non-techie, non-hardened Bitcoin user, if they were to pose an innocent question or pose a note that’s remotely critical of Bitcoin - more than likely they will currently get hammered. Frankly, regardless of who they are.
And guess what? That person is prolly gonna ✌🏽out and not come back or recommend nostr to anyone.
Yes, I am more often than not going to err on the side of honey vs vinegar. I’m also a veery small voice in this environment. So maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m right.
This is coming on the tail end of a screenshot I posted getting the most response I’ve ever had - that was not 100% clearly supportive of LN/Bitcoin. I was just posing something as an interesting topic, for discussion and feedback from a wealth of people with more knowledge than I.
It’s an interesting balance of knowing how strongly people feel about Bitcoin but also knowing how strongly people feel about building nostr, and observing as a shadow dweller the responses that various sides of #Bitcoin posts get.
