A likely scenario to me seems to be the world of Cyberpunk (2077), polititically we're about 80% there, we already have the corporatism/fascism disallowing regular people to build wealth through hard work, as well as a steadily growing number of government-guaranteed violent monopolies. Add to that a few advanced body modifications and an inaccessible internet (In Cyberpunk, AI ran rampant there, in the real world it might just be excessive KYC) and you're one good crisis away from everything falling apart, nations and alliances dissolving into city states, governments securing their own while leaving the vast majority to fight it out amongst themselves with no protection or "rights" other than what they can secure for themselves, violently or otherwise.
Funnily enough, even though it's far away from an anarcho-capitalist utopia, in Cyberpunk you at least get a chance to rise above your station without being hampered in _every_ possible way by an all-devouring bureaucracy so maybe it isn't the worst possible future. Certainly beats 1984 🤷♂️
