I simple man... #ActivityPub bad... #Nostr good.
Understanding what Threads is doing with the fediverse is important to everybody working on social media protocols. nostr:npub1dqwvfayf2jwlw2ftl3wxgy22w0qveqtta4sfg8u8gdauzp7kr8tsnvcr3q was invited to visit Meta and has a very through write up worth reading: nostr:note1uza7vwt6l64wfz2dqxm0zpzh825tkm6rvw3xardmje0wktvxdxrq7qqeg8
nostr:npub1dqwvfayf2jwlw2ftl3wxgy22w0qveqtta4sfg8u8gdauzp7kr8tsnvcr3q was my co-founder on Planetary, the secure scuttlebutt app I worked on before pivoting to Nos and Nostr. He’s very insightful, if a bit long winded.
I’m going to a foocamp hosted by meta next month, hopefully I’ll be able to ask additional questions and keep talking to folks and learning. Getting the big tech companies on board with open social protocols is potentially both dangerous and very powerful.
Discussion
So do you block anybody on nostr with a nip-05 from mostr.pub? Nostr is part of the fediverse, all of your nostr content is syndicated over ActivityPub.
But is that a bullet point to the credit of ActivityPub?
A bridge connecting two neighborhoods is beautiful, and I am glad to have it. But I still prefer the rules of the neighborhood thay I live in. Even if I do visit some houses in the other neighborhood across the bridge.
