People should have to pass a mental competence test before getting a nose ring. The test will have only one question: do you want to get a nose ring? If you say yes, you are not mentally competent to decide, and will not be allowed to get one.

Nose rings, to me, always looked like something which the master might use to attach leashes or chains to his slaves. (And, for that matter, tattoos remind me of brands used to identify livestock. The upper-uppers never have them.)
