The 25k tax proposal for people trying to leave Canada got me thinking.

I’m noting a pattern. People in governments are more and more thinking of us individuals as a property of the state.

Are we still citizens? Or are we becoming (or already are) property of the state?

If we cannot leave a place without being prosecuted or without paying a tax, what’s the difference between us and the slave of the ancient times?
