Bold move 😂 …would you risk doing the same using an older SHA algorithm? 😏
Discussion
Maybe SHA-256 but why would you use that when you can use SHA-512? Definitely not MD5 or any other hashing algos.
I am splitting the hair here. I also trust cryptography but personally I wouldn’t post a record on a blockchain encrypted with a method that will eventually become obsolete
Over +INF time ofc
Technological advances are hard to predict. Quantum computing could break cryptography for about a decade.
That’s indeed the biggest risk…! That and collisions, if the time frame of reference is long enough, even the most improbable event will happen
Would you do the same using SHA-1 for 420 satoshi’s?
That could be a fun experiment. Maybe I'll generate a private key and MD5 hash it, and see how long it takes somebody to crack it.
That could help improve security btw, it’s actually a cool idea
I'll do two Bitcoin private keys. Put a high balance in one and a low balance in the other. I'll SHA-512 hash the high balance key and MD5SUM the low balance key and post them both. I'll tell people that they're welcome to the Bitcoin if they can crack the private key. That could be fun.
