I spent a week in the Roma neighborhood last Feb and loved it.

aaah okay. are there certain parts in that neighbourhood i should stay out of?
My only observation would be the obvious: don't walk alone at night around poorly lit areas like parks. We had a guide (I can recommend the taco + Mezcal walking tours 😀 ), and that was his advice. I never felt any danger.
