every time an app defaults to an in-app browser and doesn't use my system one I want to physically punch said app
Discussion
If violence wasn't immoral I'd slap the idiot who came up with such a "great" idea.
💯
Counter: in-app browser is a separate cookie file, so e.g. for X, Nostr, whatever you don’t start collecting shit tracking cookies from sites you open (like MSM links) that then hang around for ages in your system browser, they’re sandboxed separately
counter-counter: If you are a poweruser probably you know how to manage your browser and your cookie in it, but you have near zero-control over in-app browser (they mostly work on the webview package on android, a chrome-lite browser and you need to obtain root and skills (or grapheneos) to harden and modify it.
*literally in my propic on lineageos phone hardening firefox from fdroid*
Thats because the user cant handle it if you jump out of the app into the browser. And the product owners of apps think ot is a better experience for the user if he stays in the app 😅
Control only what you can: your thoughts, choices, and actions. Let go of the rest, and find tranquility in that simple truth.
Or when the app only allow login with socials ☠️
