Just for some tip, You may use FreeBSD + ZFS if you need fast server with great caching. But hey that's still great achievement.
It is fast with Linux and ZFS.

You may need to set up ZFS in your own as it was not included by default due to licensing issue.
It could did well on Linux if done with some tweaks too.
