When I have a week straight of trimming I listen to any and all good content I can find.

There is a really high-quality YouTube channel called “Fall of Civilizations” that tells some incredible stories that are well researched by a credible historian.

I definitely receive the information with a grain of salt (as I do everything) but it’s amazing how many times the world has ended for certain populations throughout history.

Plagues have killed > 50% of global populations many times. There have been hundreds of cases of complete societal collapse from corruption and miscalculation and misfortune. Whole kingdoms and jurisdictions have been conquered and subjugated thousands of times. Natural disasters have destroyed entire nation states and metropolises time and time again.

It really drives home the fact that these things can happen and will happen again. I’m not a doomer, but nothing can outrun entropy long-term. Best to stay prepared and understand that civilizations aren’t static…

Yeah I saw the one about ancient Sumeria, really good

Yeah that one is really good. I haven’t seen an episode I didn’t like.

The most interesting episode to me was the story of the Nabateans. I’d never heard of them and was blown away by their situation.
