In the early 4th century, during persecutions in the Roman Empire, Hermes, a former soldier, openly confessed his Christian faith. Dragged before the authorities, he remained steadfast despite torture and threats. He miraculously survived poison and attempts to drown him, and was ultimately beheaded for his unwavering belief in Christ.
