When you've spent your career in the the guts of the existing financial systems, knowing how money actually moves, how much code is written every day to keep it moving and how many operators are required to fix all the breaks..

and then you run a bitcoin node and a lightning node on a raspberry and an ssd drive and then see it work

it is a cathartic experience and I highly recommend it
