On September 18, 2014, a final court decision was issued against Trendon T. Shavers, also known as "Pirateat40".
The operator of the fraudulent scheme Bitcoin Savings and Trust (BTCST) was ordered to pay over $40 million in compensation and fines.
The online organization that Shavers created and used to operate his Ponzi scheme allowed him to fraudulently extract more than 700,000 bitcoin from investors.
