The irony of recent politics in the US, with all the right/left extremism is that the Federal Government was originally designed to be small and weak.

Folks do not understand that the founder's intent was that who the president is should not mean very much in one's life, as his power was inconsequential.

And yet here we are, slaves of a malevolent force orders of magnitude greater than any previous empire.
