For nearly three decades, Karl Bushby has walked an unbroken path around the world defying limits and expectations with every step
In 1998, Karl Bushby set out from Punta Arenas, Chile, with a singular, audacious goal: walk all the way back to his home in Hull, England, without ever taking a plane, car, or shortcut.
What began as a wild dream has turned into one of the greatest feats of human endurance and perseverance an epic trek known as the Goliath Expedition. Twenty-seven years and over 47,000 kilometers later, Karl is still walking, his finish line finally in sight for 2026.
His journey is nothing short of mind-blowing. Karl has crossed 25 countries on foot, braving everything from the infamous Darien Gap’s deadly jungle, to the frozen Bering Strait one of the few people to cross from Russia to Alaska on foot. He’s swum the Caspian Sea, survived run-ins with bureaucracy, detentions, wild weather, and the mental grind of endless solitude.
But through every setback, every locked border, every physical hardship, he’s kept his promise to never cheat never fly, never quit, and never give up on his dream.
As he nears the end of his world-spanning trek, Karl Bushby stands as living proof of what a single human being can endure, overcome, and accomplish with sheer determination. His footsteps have become a testament to adventure, resilience, and the belief that the world can still surprise us one step at a time. 🌍🚶♂️
