The ad-supported web is so atrocious as to be unusable. I just searched something online, and this was the site from the top search result. The red X’s mark the ads that popped up and kept popping up as I scrolled. What fixes this? Sincere question.

A browser with an ad blocker is a start
I've been using adblock and pihole for so long that I don't think I could use the web without them.
It’s awful
It's such a train wreck. I'd give a few sats to just read what I fucking was interested in. The only clicks they get is when I miss the X and then I just rage quit the whole thing.

I turn off Javascript per-site if it's too bad. Also saves battery.

Orion browser can add chrome extensions and add ublock origin.
Switch to Brave browser or the MullVad browser. It has completely changed my browsing experience. I almost never see banner ads and I can even use a special reading mode that is nothing but text. It doesn’t even show widgets or all of the other fluff in the margins.
