Wrote a bitcoin humour piece especially for a pleb publication.

(Unpaid. Just for fun).

Submitted it to the magazine in November.

Enquired with the editors in February.

Told it would be published.

Waited until June.

Today I learned I am not included in the listed contributors for the issue.

It won't be published.

This is so disappointing after 6+ months of waiting. Not the way to run things.

They lost a contributor, customer and advocate.

Sometimes writing sucks.

On the plus side, I'll just publish it on nostr.

Fuck publications.

I don't need anyone's permission to be funny.

Article coming soon...

Assuming that’s btc mag? Had a similar experience, “it will be published later today” was said more than once. Actually getting in the physical copy appears to be only for the select few.

Nope. Not btc inc.

Teach me to assume anything, but statement still true. 🫡🙌

Where do you find places to sell articles these days? Is The Writer's Market still a thing?

The vast majority of paid articles are written in house. There are still some freelancers who have good relationships with editors and can get comissions. Still, it's rare in any writing niche in 2025.

The industry has changed.

Most paid work is B2B writing or copywriting.

Yeah, that's what I suspected. I wrote a first draft for bitcoin magazine. I need to clean it up, but I decided to submit it based on the feedback they gave me last time.

Things we do better at 21 Futures:

2. We communicate 'yes' or 'no' to submissions wothin 21 days.

3. We let accepted submitters know the details of when they will be published.

4. We pay.
