The real point of bitcoin is that it is sound money.

As to privacy - it's a literal audit trail - but, that aside, everyone seems to forget that having BTC is nice but one day, after hyperbitcoinisation natch - you'll want to actually use it. Doing anything at scale - like a house purchase, while staying anon, is much trickier.
