Even if #nostr clients could / would give Apple 30% of zaps, it then opens the door to legal challenges as to the legitimacy of lightning / zapping. How do you track that? Terrorism? What about taxes? Does it pass the Howey test? Is it a currency or a commodity? Is there now a leader / organization that’s benefiting?

Putting on my tinfoil hat, I believe this is bigger than Apple wants their cut. I believe this is laying the groundwork to challenge lightning integration without KYC/AML. I hope I’m wrong and this is just Apple being greedy.

I’ll double your tinfoil hat and say that every single govt agency is currently working together to try to kill Bitcoin.

Apple charging a fee doesn't effect the results of the howey test, fwiw.
