Only one large brand that I have seen which is fairly consistent and easily accessible to most is Thorne.
Most companies are buying from larger distributors, and it is those companies and distributors that are a problem since they don't do proper QC. Factories in China and India, where the vast majority of supplements are manufactured, don't care, and they are happy to lie or use dry labs to fake their results. I'll sometimes spend 6 months in testing before we actually get a lot that meets spec, and that includes a lot of arguing with suppliers, which is tiring.
Any views on Now or Jarrow? Been buying those brands, but really donβt know anything about them except from my own experimentation.
Also big brands with large facilities. I think they are decent.
The big issue is that supplements are not properly regulated. In the UK, they are considered food and regulated as such, and that doesn't provide any assurances. There is no requirement to do any testing. ConsumerLabs is a good service in theory, but having one batch that passed their independent testing 4 years ago doesn't mean what a brand is selling today still meets that standard. The brands with their own teams of chemists and in-house labs tend to be the better choices, and I'm certain both Now and Jarrow have these.
