I think it has to do with the % of overall time. Time passes like a ratio vs your experience. If you live 1 year, the next year is 100% of your life all over again. Each year it’s less, and moves that much faster.

When you are 2 years old, one years pass means 1/2 in your life. When you are 50 years old, it is 1/50 in your life.

It's relative to how old you are.

1 year when you're 10 is 10% of your life, but is 2% when you're 50.

When you’re 10 you have 80 years left. When you’re 75 you have 5 years left!
