Better than tailscale. At that point, it's just a convinience tool to manage wireguard keys with a nice UI.
It makes sense if you have a lot of clients and users.
If it's just you, better if you manually manage wireguard configs IMO.
Regarding your ".. two drawbacks of...", what do you think of [Headscale](https://github.com/juanfont/headscale) ?
