I find it extremely ironic as somebody who absolutely loves technology, that something like a simple phone tree can be so infuriating

to be fair, phone trees and technology aren't really equal... a phone tree unnecessarily complicates in lengthens the process that could normally be much more efficiently handled by a human... whereas technology, at its best, makes things faster and more efficient, versus dragging it out to save paying a human to do it.
