So they support Gift-Wrapped DMs. That is great and I hope, all clients can agree on supporting that but it's really a pain to have differing standards. If you write somebody and they don't reply, you never know if their client even supports that standard and with nip04 getting removed from clients, that can now even happen with nip04.

At least with nip04 one can check if when the recipient has last authored a nip04 message. The other standards have no way of knowing the recipient's capabilities. Even if clients would set a marker in the profile, you wouldn't know for sure if the recipient keeps using that client.
